This Jeep is the vehicle that introduced Brunt to the sport of drag racing and over the years, he has taken it to a handful of events in addition to the Modern Street Hemi Shootout series. His first event was Hot Rod Magazine’s Pump Gas Drags in Memphis, Tennessee and more recently, his Jeep has been one of the quicker competitors in the Roadkill Nights drag racing program on Woodward Avenue. This is also a legitimate street machine, so if you live in Metro Detroit, you may have seen this Grand Cherokee SRT8 rolling down Woodward on a Friday night.
Brunt’s Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 is powered by a 426 cubic inch Hemi, built by Mark Blaha. It is boosted by a Stage 6 turbocharger setup featuring an 88-millimeter Precision Turbo and the engine is tuned by Joel Applegate. A NAG1 transmission built by Russell Drake and a 9-inch Ford differential from DTS send the power to the wheels with help from a DTS driveshaft and Strange 35-spline axles. Brunt’s Jeep has a run a best quarter mile time of 9.27 at 151 miles per hour.
Brian Brunt didn’t make any changes to his Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 over the winter, but he did apply a fresh coat of wax in preparation for the 2022 racing season. His goals for this season are to have fun and to tear up the 10.0 class, and based on his success over the past few years – he will be one of the top competitors in the class.
