Today’s Modern Street Hemi Shootout featured racer is Mike England, who has been racing his 2016 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat named “1QUIKCAT” for the past three and a half years. England has raced with the MSHS during the 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 seasons. Across those four years, he has pulled down 6 wins in the 10.0 class and a King of the Hill win, leading to 10.0 class championships in 2019 and 2021.
In addition to the MSHS, England has participated in at least 4 races each of the past 3 years in the Streetcar Takeover series, and 7 or 8 Streetcar Shootouts at Darlington and Rockingham with 5 wins.
England offered this insight into the beginning of his time racing his Charger.
“When I bought my Hellcat in October of 2016 I never even thought about racing it until a buddy of mine, Mike Brice told me about a tnt and Mopars at the Rock one day when we were together on a ridge Run with Rocky Roche and about 15 other Mopars, which I have also made friends with. Mike and I talked and hung out each time we met at the track and I have to say he inspired me to keep going with improvements to my car as well as giving me tips along the way. Mike introduced me to John Green and G at MXA who did some of my mods in the beginning through the 1st 2 years. Mike also introduced me to Jon Sipple who installed my 1st upper pulley and the rest is history. After getting involved in MSHS, I have met so many people and made some great friends. I look forward to each race not only to compete but to hang out with all my race friends. Can’t wait for the season to get started.”
England’s Charger Hellcat was built by Sipple’s Speed and Performance. It is powered by the 6.2-liter Hemi that came from the factory with the factory IHI supercharger, with Zdung Ho tuning the Sipple-built engine. Power is sent to the rear wheels by means of a Sipple Max Effort HP90 transmission, a Driveshaft Shop carbon fiber driveshaft, a factory 3.09 rear gear set and a set of Demon axles. He ran nitrous in 2019, but not since then.
Mike England has run a best quarter mile time of 9.52 at 142 miles per hour.
During the off-season, England refreshed the supercharger, along with adding a Gearhead Fabrications bypass valve and an engine diaper. His goals for the 2022 racing season are to stack up more wins in the MSHS. He would love to get a twin win, eyeing the 10.0 and Bracket classes, but outside of the MSHS, England hopes to score a win or two in the Streetcar Takeover Series, which has eluded him thus far. Between the MSHS and the Streetcar Takeover Series, he has a total of 17 events on his racing calendar for 2022.
